We don’t have a Bible in our heart language. Existing churches in our region overlook us because we seem to be so much of a challenge in sharing the Gospel. We blend into our environment and move with seeming silence in our own circles. Schools and seminaries tend not to admit us for lack of resources or academic credentials. Nick Jungheim’s contribution to the Network communicates volumes. Yes, there are more people committed to serving the deaf peoples of the world than ever. Yes, ION is committed to deaf leaders who teach us more of that world and the ways and means of sharing the Good News and making it good news to them. An entire cohort of deaf leaders will soon begin an advanced study on the “stuff of orality.” No, the term is not deaf friendly, but the truth of how we all use learned expressions our “inner speech” to communicate.
