“I’m shocked and saddened when I hear that less than 1/100 of .1% (which equates to .0001) of the world’s annual charitable giving goes to places in the world needing the gospel the most.
Did you hear that?
That’s less than $1 of every $10,000 of charitable giving dollars going to those people across the world—currently estimated to number 3.1 billion—who have never heard about Jesus and His gift of salvation.
This means that those people groups who are unreached are NOT receiving the resources needed to make an eternal difference in their lives. SIU has a way to change this. SIU has real, active, indigenous partnerships on the ground right now in some of the most unreached places of the world, such as Southeast Asia.
According to the global missions tracking agency Joshua Project, the 11 countries of Southeast Asia are home to 1,824 different people groups. Of these groups, 718 (about 40%) are unreached.
That’s approximately 331 million people in Southeast Asia who have never heard the gospel.
These people primarily belong to oral cultures. That means, they learn and communicate through oral means—such as stories, drama, and song—rather than traditional, Western literacy-based means.
SIU’s partners, trained in our orality-based strategy of making Christ known, are making inroads into these people groups!
But we have a long way to go! Our partners need funding to train more local believers how to effectively communicate God’s message to unreached, orality-based people groups.
