Davar Partners completed the the Turkana audio Bible in 2018, in partnership with the Bible Society of Kenya. Since then the Bible Society has been using the audio recordings to teach local literacy courses. We are thrilled the audio Bible provides the opportunity for many to hear God's Word, possibly for the first time, while also helping oral learners learn how to read.
While we were in Lodwar, Kenya we met the Bible Society of Kenya teacher, Rachel, and her student, Kristen. Kristen shared how she was impacted by the new knowledge of God's Word and why she, and four of her classmates, chose to give their lives to Jesus. After listening to Luke 8, when Jesus calms the storm, the students asked their teacher to pray over them. It is a great example of how the audio Bible can help reach the 1+ million Turkana speakers in northwest Kenya with God's Word.
